Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
The LPN Advanced functions as a vital member of the healthcare team who contributes to the success of the practice by demonstrating customer/patient focus, effective communication, professionalism, and teamwork. Spends 40% or more of time on an annual basis assisting the physician(s) through documentation of specific components of the patient visit and executing specified physician instructions within the framework of the policy and procedures of the Clinic. Will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care provided to selected patient populations and their families.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs/directs patient care following established clinic workflows including, but not limited to admission interview, accurate documentation and timely patient flow.
Accompanies the physician into the exam room or is connected remotely by audio for the patient visit documenting in the electronic medical record (EMR) all aspects of care to include chief complaint (CC), history of presenting illness (HPI), physician exam (PE) and patient plan as directed by the physician.
Works directly with physician to ensure the patient visit is appropriately documented.
Develops an understanding of physician practice patterns and key terms used by the physician to ensure efficient and accurate real time documentation of patient visit.
Triage patient care to ensure priority is provided to patients in an emergency situation: prepare room for daily patient care; responsible for sterilization; restocks instruments; Cleans and resets rooms between patients; orders medications and supplies; helps orient new employees to clinic through explanation of procedure.
Assists healthcare providers with exams, treatments, procedures and testing as directed. Willingness to ask provider questions, get clarification when needed and communicate concerns appropriately and timely. Performs phlebotomy, lab procedures, and communicates results to the patient as ordered by the provider. Notifies patients of lab and diagnostic test results under the direct supervision of the health care provider. Ensures appropriate consent are obtained prior to the above.
Provides patient and family education pertaining to healthcare management, disease process, treatment, test(s), medication and follow-up under direct supervision of the health care provider. Maintain/update patient education materials and consent forms.
Ensures patient is appropriately prepared for care encounter. Prepares/obtains patient medical records and other information/documentation pertinent to patient encounter. Calculates visit estimate for the prompt payment. Explains to patient the visit estimate, prompt pay discount, and payment plan as needed. Collects visit payment.
Triage patient telephone calls utilizing knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice. Receives prioritizes, documents and responds to incoming calls as appropriate.
Performs other duties within scope of role as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse License from the state licensing board.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS).
Preferred:
1 year related experience in a clinic specialty clinic or acute hospital setting.
Pay Range
$20.62 - $28.35 /hour
