Role Mission Under the guidance of the Shop Manager, the Electric Motor Mechanic will be responsible for repairing electric motors for various industries. Key Job Responsibilities Read job paperwork to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability. Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (ac or dc). Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition. Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including but not limited to: parts washers/steamers, etc. Measure for or note proper replacement parts. Correctly requisition needed items from Shop Manager. Replace or repair worn, or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, including but not limited to: bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, fans, end shields, etc. Retest reassembled electro-mechanical equipment for proper output and operation. Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis. Operate specialized repair and testing equipment and other equipment as needed. Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties. Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.) Keep work area clean and organized. Adhere to all company policies. All other duties as assigned. Competencies High School Diploma is required. Technical Certification or Associates Degree in a related field is preferred. Experience in rotating apparatus repair (AC and DC electric motors, pumps, blowers, etc.) preferably in an electric motor shop environment. Mechanical skills in troubleshooting, electrical theory and understanding of AC and DC motors desired. Understanding of Microsoft Office products is ideal. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Must have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
