Panther Creek Power Operating, LLC Electrical & Instrumentation Technician in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Electrical & Instrumentation Technician performs a variety of electrical, instrument, and controls maintenance activities within the context of normal total task repairs and preventive maintenance Under general directive supervision, the E & I Technician will perform more complex assignments in conjunction with more senior skilled employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The E & I Technician performs duties such as, but not limited to, the following partial listing of responsibilities:

  1. Performs all assignments safely, participates in creating a safe work environment within the workplace by participating in safety training and supporting continuous improvement. Maintains an injury free environment. Provides safety and environmental stewardship.

  2. Performs routine inspection, maintenance, replacements, repairs, and calibrations on all types of electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment in the power plant and yard.

  3. Installs, replaces, and maintains a variety of devices such as breakers and motor controls up to and including 4160 volts.

  4. Installs pipe, tubing, conduit, compression fittings, cable, and supports.

  5. Performs all electrical work, installation, repair, and maintenance of power plant equipment and transformers, up to and including 4160 volts.

  6. Understands and utilizes a variety of equipment and tools in the performance of trouble shooting, repair, and calibration of electrical, control, and instrumentation devices.

  7. Under normal conditions, performs own mechanical work in the performance of the E&I function.

  8. Performs electrical soldering work in the context of completing the "total task".

  9. Utilizes power hand and fixed shop tools in the performance of the work.

  10. Reads and understands blueprints for the purpose of layout and performance of work, along with flow diagrams, mechanical configuration drawings, and P&ID drawings. Makes necessary sketches and drawings for communication to others and documentation.

  11. Trouble shoots all electrical, control, and instrumentation, including diagnostics on PLC's and electrical systems & control, analyzers, switches, relays, control valves.

  12. Utilizes equipment manuals or other materials for guidance in the performance of repairs, calibrations, and installation of equipment.

  13. Reports and documents abnormal conditions and records information in the equipment history files. 14. Maintains a clean work environment and maintains plant housekeeping standards.

  15. Performs other work as assigned for which the individual is qualified.

  16. Provides leadership to lesser experienced individuals and may be required to act in supervisors' absence.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned by E, H & S Manager, Plant Engineer, or Facility Manager.

  18. The normal working schedule is Monday through Friday, with on-call and overtime hours a necessary part of the position.

Qualifications

  1. Must possess good written and verbal skills and the ability to work in teams.

  2. Must maintain a valid state driver's license to operate applicable company vehicles

  3. Must maintain all regulatory required licenses as required at Company's expense.

  4. Experience with Programmable Electronic Systems (ABB Infi 90 DCS, Programmable Logic Controls) is preferred.

  5. Experience with Mainsaver© Maintenance Management system along with MS Office suite is a plus.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: At least 3 years of experience in a power/process environment is preferred. The successful candidate must be dependable, trustworthy, punctual, self-motivated, and in excellent physical condition, must possess excellent communication and team skills, and be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as necessary. Some of the tasks listed will be done with the aid of a computer, other require physical labor. Periods of prolonged standing, sitting, or walking are required. Frequent bending, stooping, stretching, in addition to lifting up to 40 pounds on a repeated basis is required. Must be able to wear PPE. At least 3 years of experience performing similar work is required. The individual will be required to furnish all basic hand tools according to a list provided by the company. All individuals must demonstrate a strong aptitude in math, mechanical ability, and production control.
