Position: Transportation Supervisor
Job PurposeThe Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the transportation team. This role ensures the efficient and safe delivery of transportation services to meet the needs of patients and staff. The Supervisor is expected to contribute to a professional and supportive recovery environment through effective leadership and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
The following list outlines the primary responsibilities for this role. While these duties are central to the position, additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet organizational goals.
Dispatch and Route Coordination
Assign drivers to routes and update schedules for any changes, including added or canceled stops.
Communicate route modifications promptly to drivers and relevant teams to ensure seamless operations.
Team Supervision
Lead and manage a team of drivers by providing training, monitoring performance, and addressing concerns to maintain high standards of service.
Vehicle Maintenance Management
Oversee and track vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure all vehicles comply with safety and operational requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain precise records of route adjustments, vehicle inspections, and driver schedules to support transparency and operational efficiency.
Effective Communication
Collaborate with internal teams to relay real-time updates on routes, changes, and other transportation-related needs.
Client Transportation
Safely transport clients to and from appointments, events, and other designated locations as directed by program requirements.
Policy Compliance
Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks following company guidelines.
Adhere to all procedures for reporting vehicle accidents and incidents.
Staff Engagement
Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions as required.
Additional Duties
Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the department’s goals and operations.
Qualifications
Minimum age of 21 years.
Proven supervisory experience, preferably in transportation or logistics.
Ability to work independently and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive up to three consecutive hours.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for team coordination.
Flexibility to manage shifting priorities and resolve issues promptly.
Capability to drive in challenging conditions (e.g., congested areas, snowy/icy weather).
Physical Requirements
Lifting: Up to 30 lbs. (minimal).
Standing: Minimal.
Stair Climbing: Minimal (varies by program/location).
Driving: Small passenger vans, approximately 2–4 hours daily.
Sitting: Up to 6 hours continuously.
Reaching: Up to 3 hours continuously.
Bending/Squatting: Approximately 10% of the time.
Walking: Minimal.
