Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Associate Director of Clinical Research Ops (Research Education) within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.The Associate Director, Research Education is in charge of managing and supporting the assessment of organizational needs, as well as designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote the professional growth and continuous learning of research team members. This position will work with clinical operation and quality leadership in developing, implementing, organizing, and monitoring the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Plan (QAPI) for OHRS. The role also involves serving as the education and development liaison and advisor to leadership and facilitating Rutgers Cancer Institute initiatives across the RWJ Barnabas Health enterprise. Additionally, the Associate Director plans, develops, implements, and administers educational and training programs for research staff to ensure the highest quality of clinical research conducted at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Finally, this position supports the implementation and development of broad change initiatives, strategies, interventions, and change management necessary for organizational alignment and overall organizational effectiveness.Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Serves as a representative for Rutgers Cancer Institute. Builds strong relationships and partnerships and communicates the mission and vision of high-quality research and education at Rutgers Cancer Institute to all Leadership and functional areas, internal colleagues, stakeholders, and University partners.
  • Responsible for administrative supervision and management of all education and quality assurance activities in a highly matrix and collaborative environment.
  • Develop system-wide educational programs to enhance the recruitment and retention of research staff.
  • Develop and implement data-driven educational programs, evaluation, and improvement strategies.
  • Develops and oversees student-based programs, including internship programs and clinical site rotation.
  • Recruits/selects/hires/evaluates and recommends disciplinary and personnel actions for all department staff.
  • Provides a broad range of consultative services to all employees regarding policies and procedures related to workforce planning, development, and quality assurance.
  • Serves as a Cancer Institute's Scientific Review Board member to evaluate nurse-led research and quality assurance projects.
  • Collaborates with Rutgers and other affiliate nursing schools to explore and formalize opportunities to enhance academic partnerships related to student evidence-based practice/quality improvement and research projects. Selects, prepares, advises, and supervises students to guide nursing research projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of education experience required, preferably in a research setting.
Certifications/Licenses

  • Must possess a clear vision for an innovative educational department and the ability to engage others in that vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust, a reputation for high integrity, and strong and effective interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Excellent coordination and integration skills with experience in complex, multi-institutional collaborative models or matrix systems.
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills and the ability to function in a team environment are required.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment is preferred.
