Posting Summary | Honors College Forum is a unique course as it is a microcosm of Rutgers University graduate and undergraduate students from ALL schools united through a community-engaged teaching and learning opportunity. The Forum framework is intentionally designed for the collective and shared exploration of questions, so that students feel like their identities, their perspectives, are valued. It is a model that explicitly allows each student to express their creativity through a project addressing humanitarian concerns. The Honors College Teaching Fellows Program (HC-TF) is an innovative scholarly collaboration designed to enrich the educational experience of our first-year students. The primary role of the TFs is to mentor and advise students as they build their portfolio of lifelong learning skills. The program emphasizes high skilled teaching practices revised for each cohort of teaching fellows (TFs) chosen to represent humanities, arts, engineering, and sciences. Project based learning (PBL) is utilized in a section of 16-20 students who work in diverse teams of 4-5 to develop their own "Humanitarian/Social Innovations". Teaching duties entail two sections weekly as well as leading pre-semester sessions for the high-achieving first-year students from a range of disciplines. |
