Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lifeguard for the Rutgers Recreation department.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants who use the pool.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and good condition of the pool complex.
  • Completes daily administrative tasks and provides information to patrons.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • For entry-level positions, no experience is required.
Certifications/Licenses
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer and first-aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be in good physical condition and maintain professional work-related practices: safety, alertness, responsibility, initiative, courtesy, good judgment, cleanliness, and the ability to work with all ages.

Special Conditions
  • Guards must be able to pass all aspects of the initial skills test prior to employment and the subsequent in-service-testing program on a monthly basis.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
