Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Administrator IV (Cloud Automation Engineer) for the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Reporting to the Manager of Platform Architecture and Delivery in Enterprise Infrastructure, this position will be responsible for helping to advance Cloud Computing at Rutgers University. This position will work on central cloud infrastructure such as billing, networking, security, and automation. The position will work with users throughout the university to identify solutions to a wide range of cloud related IT challenges.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manages, maintains and monitors the stability of the infrastructure and services related to the Rutgers public and private cloud infrastructure.
  • Assists clients within Rutgers cloud infrastructure with choosing new services and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • Assists with the onboarding/migration of new clients to the Rutgers cloud infrastructure.
  • Manages time and priorities to effectively accomplish workload.
  • Develops and implements a personal training and development plan.
  • Identifies resources necessary to achieve individual and group objectives.
  • Ensures regular cloud security audits are completed and communicated to the Rutgers technical community.
  • Ensures clear, concise, and timely reports are generated.
  • Provides communications about any issues, problems, or plans that are informative, clear, concise and timely.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in any field with technical experience.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a System Administrator in which 3+ years of Linux Operating System experience and/or experience working in an enterprise technical environment, preferably in a customer service-based organization.

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to succinctly and accurately communicate technical problems to senior staff.
  • Must be able to handle multiple, shifting priorities and a large volume of technical problem resolution.

  • Must work well with peers and senior staff in a team oriented, cooperative spirit.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Cloud Certifications from Amazon, Microsoft, or Google.
