About the Position: In an exciting and challenging environment, the Quality Engineer is responsible for specification review, heat certifications, quality management system maintenance, and other QA functions as needed.

What You'll Do:

  • Approves Certified Test Reports based on review of customer requirements and specifications.
  • Applies internal test results and external test results to Certified Test Reports.
  • Reviews material and quality system specifications for inquiry and material certification purposes.
  • Conducts Internal and Supplier audits and follows up on Corrective Actions.
  • Writes and revises Quality management system procedures to assure EQS activities comply with quality system certifications.
  • Fills in for Manager of Quality Assurance as needed.
  • Attend quality assurance training courses.
  • Meets attendance requirements, including availability to work in excess of eight hours per day and weekends as necessary.
  • Able to travel when required; must have a valid driver's license and abide by the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.
  • Performs duties in safe manner, wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

What You'll Need:

  • Associate degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.  A degree in a science field or engineering discipline is a plus.  American Society for Quality certifications (Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Manager) and other Auditor training certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in a metals manufacturing industry preferred.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.  Auditing experience a plus.
  • EQS in-house training:  Theoretical Steelmaking Course (unless technical degree supersedes).
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Required to have an active and valid driver's license, or the ability to travel and commute as required, and comply with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program
  • Willingness to travel, when necessary
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn
