Community Wellness Partners Assistant Director of Nursing in New Hartford, New York

  • The ADON's schedule will be 9am - 5pm with additional hours worked as required. Willing to entertain a schedule with later in/out times if preferred i.e. (10am-6pm, 11am-7pm, etc.)

  • This is an hourly position and the hiring rate starts at $47 per hour. Willing to negotiate rate of pay based on skill set and experience.

    MAIN FUNCTIONS : To assist in planning, develops and supervising the activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide care and services to residents. Assists with the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures in accordance with Federal and State regulations.

    REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing Service

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accepts all Nursing Service responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing Service.

  • Assists shift supervisors, unit managers, charge nurses in the interpretation of policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the Nursing Department.

  • Assists shift supervisors, unit managers, charge nurses in assessing the clinical needs of residents to ensure delivery of care is provided in a dignified and timely manner.

  • Participates in resident interdisciplinary care conference meetings as needed.

  • Completes review of pertinent medical information to accurately assess the needs of prospective admissions to the facility. Completes necessary forms associated with pre-admission screening process.

  • Assists Medical Director, Physicians, Podiatrist, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacist, etc in rounds as needed.

  • Attends In-service Programs.

  • Attends Unit Manager meetings as scheduled by DNS.

  • Assists the Director of Nursing in the interviewing process of nursing service applicants.

  • Completes facility audit activity as assigned by Director of Nursing Services.

  • Responsible for arranging and preparation of D.O.H. forms for destruction of controlled substances.

  • Assists with the completion of Nursing staffing schedules as needed.

  • May be scheduled for week-end House coverage as needed.

  • Participates in weekly skin round meetings and completes facility audit regarding plan management on assigned units.

  • Provides shift to shift report to on-coming shift Supervisor .

  • Assists the Director of Nursing in the evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care and maintains and promotes resident rights.

  • Conducts nursing rounds on all units several times during the shift.

  • Assists the Director of Nursing Services in the development, implementation and evaluations of facility policies, procedures on an annual and on-going basis.

  • Will complete other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing Services.

    EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    Registered Professional Nurse currently registered in New York State. Post graduate study and/or geriatric nursing experience. Supervisory experience, progressive of five (5) years or more. Demonstrated participation in continuing education programs. Demonstrated competence in nursing skills.

    CONTACTS:

    Patients/residents, inter-departmental contacts, nursing service personnel, families of patients, friends and public in general on a daily basis.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    Walking, sitting, standing, lifting

    MENTAL DEMANDS :

    Heavy and exacting requiring careful analysis of the effect of solution. Multiple decision making.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Usual office conditions with contact to nursing care units with usual accompanying sights and odors.

    HAZARDS:

    Exposure to infection.

    SAFETY:

    Accountable for implementing assigned responsibilities and activities to attain safety goals and objectives by complying with applicable rules and regulations and performing tasks and supervising others in performing tasks in a safe manner.
