Your Future Role
Electrical/Application Engineer for medium voltage drives reporting to the R&D Manager of Power Electronics. Responsible to coordinate and lead moderately sophisticated design projects via specific after-market customer requests to meet product requirements and cost targets, while ensuring a high quality design ensures customer satisfaction and a detailed service delivery. The Engineer will be responsible for resolving technical issues, providing support, maintaining knowledge bases, and collaborating across departments. The focus will be on a middle east customer with large LNG trains with product in operation for 15+ years and new product that will imminently be commissioned.
This is a hybrid role, working onsite 1-3 days/week, in New Kensington, PA.
Responsibilities :
Lead design and technical support activities to support a large customer install base where each LNG train has 3x or 4x 15MW medium voltage drives connected in parallel.
Develop large medium voltage water cooled drives, Power Supply and other Power Electronics technologies; introduce new features and retrofit measures to improve existing install base.
Design, analyze and implement power electronics circuits, magnetic components and control strategies for large AC drives and power supplies.
Monitors and proactively mitigates risks and issues through all phases of the customer lifecycle to ensure quality and product performance expectations.
Analyze effects of complete system operation including medium voltage drive, input power system, motor and load (turbine).
Provide technical expertise for technical support of installed and operating drives including failure mode and root cause analysis.
Work with multi-functional groups that include (but not limited to) project management, power electronics, software development, product testing, customer service engineering, on-site field service, manufacturing, and drafting.
Collaborate with customers and solution partners to discuss and review engineering solutions focusing on improving the reliability and performance of medium voltage (MV) drives.
Your Profile
Minimum BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of related work experience. Advanced degree may be substituted for years of experience.
Experience in design, analysis, testing, solving and commissioning of IGBT based converters required.
Engineering experience in a customer facing environment required.
Experience with PLC programming and operation.
Experience with Innomotics software tools (Teamcenter, SAP) preferred.
Strong grasp on fundamentals of electrical engineering (or) power electronics concepts, theories and practical applications of medium voltage drives.
Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of sophisticated assignments.
Experience in control theory for the design, analysis, and testing of power electronics based converters required.
Development or commissioning experience on the Innomotics Perfect Harmony GH180 product or cascaded H-bridge topology.
Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.
Required travel 10-15%.
The pay range for this position is $97,500 - $167,200. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
