Position Summary

Under general supervision of a practice manager,GPR, the incumbent in this position will provide assistance to a dentist, resident, or dental student during procedures which includes seating and preparing patients for dental treatment, recording of medical history, measuring pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and ensure patient comfort, assurance and support. Assist in the care of handling of patients during dental treatment which involve setting up, missing, and passing of dental instruments and materials taking of radiographs, patient education, and giving post-operative instructions, cleaning and disinfecting area after procedures. The importance of this position is that the incumbent interacts with faculty, residents, students, and patients on both skillful and professional levels providing necessary service of dental assistance.

**LSUHealth New Orleans School of Dentistry is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2 in our Baton Rouge location . These positions are in a Career Progression Group.

Special Instructions Summary

This is a Civil Service Position. There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for the Dental Assistant 2 title and $14.06 for the Dental Assistant 1 title with an additional $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a currentDANB(Dental Assisting National Board) certification.

This position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test.

Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.
