Our transit services bring hard-working commuters to their jobs, students to their schools, and fun seekers to entertainment, shopping areas, and restaurants. We provide mobility to residents of the city as well as tourists, taking them to and from their hotels to historical neighborhoods and countless attractions. RTAs system includes 5 streetcar lines, 30 bus routes, 2 ferry routes, and paratransit services. Our passengers take more than 19 million rides every year.

TITLES OF POSITIONS REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THIS JOB Building Engineer

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises and manages a team and/or management processes including the full range of management duties
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and appraises employees (performance evaluations) on their productivity
  • Delegates and oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Motivates, guides, mentors, and coaches employees on their development
  • Recommends to senior management internal promotions and changes including discipline and terminations of employees per company policy
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

JOB SUMMARY The Facility Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing the preventative maintenance program daily for the portfolio of facilities that the RTA owns and ensures the facilities and grounds are well maintained and are in compliance with all appropriate State and Local Health and Safety Agency building codes and that the RTA receives maximum equipment life cycle. Develops, manages, and administers preventative maintenance programs for all systems in the buildings within the RTAs building portfolio.

  • Establishes, maintains, implements, and audits cost and schedules management activities for Facilitys Preventative Maintenance activities to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and plans
  • Establishes the appropriate work procedure to ensure tasks are fulfilled safely, efficiently, and high quality
  • Participates in Capital Project reviews to provide input on the design reviews to ensure projects delivered are maintainable and to minimize the impact on maintenance budget and operations.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and monitors actual project performance related to budget, cost, and schedules management activities
  • Develops appropriate contracting and procurement strategy for the multiple systems that require preventative maintenance.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports and makes appropriate repairs based on preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Records and analyzes the data in an Enterprise Resource Management system that can be used to develop State of Good Repair projects.
  • Prepares and presents reports to management and the Board Commissioners
  • Oversees performance and evaluates work of consultants to ensure compliance and consistency with agency, department, and project objectives
  • Provides lead responsibility over other professional staff as required by management
  • Manages the development and monitoring of the department and adheres to RTA's policies and procedures, budget, and achieving unit goals and objectives
  • Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of RTA's safety rules, policies, and pro edures
  • Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employees

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or a related field;
  • Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC) and/or Facilities Management Certificate (FMC)

OR:An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties

EXPERIENCE

  • Four (4) to seven (7) years of relevant experience and three (3) years of relevant supervisory-level experiencein facilities, construction, or related civil projects and/or programs

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS

  • A valid Louisiana License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
  • On-call 24/7 hours for emergency responses

Must submit to a criminal background check, the results of which must meet hiring criteria for the role.
