NOKIA Senior Technology Advisor in New Providence, New Jersey

The Senior Technology Advisor - AI Strategy will be part of a cross functional technology team responsible for developing corporate technology strategy and thought leadership in close collaboration with the S&T and BG technology and strategy leadership partners. The Senior Technology Advisor - AI also be responsible for managing the Nokia technology portfolio driving alignment with the Business Groups, Customer Relations and Strategy & Technology leads on AI/ML topics, especially those that sit at the intersection of multiple stakeholders and with large impact to Nokia.
Main Responsibility Areas
Technology Strategy
- Evaluate Nokia's current AI strategy to identify opportunities for impactful integration and evolution in alignment with cutting edge emerging trends.
- Define the strategy around embedding of AI across Nokia's solutions portfolio, including its interplay with key technology areas such as Next Gen Networks, Cloud Platforms, Industry 5.0, Cognitive Platforms, and Sustainability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with research and development teams to shape AI-driven innovations that align with Nokia's broader technology strategy.
- Partner with standardization, licensing, and regulatory teams to influence global policies and ensure Nokia's leadership in AI and related domains.
- Foster interworking between AI and other critical technology areas, including quantum computing, edge-cloud fusion, and green technology initiatives.
Future Technology Investments:
- Identify and prioritize high-impact areas for Nokia's investments in AI and adjacent technologies, evaluating both organic innovations and inorganic opportunities.
- Recommend strategic bets in areas like AI for sustainability, autonomous ecosystems, and cross-industry cognitive platforms to position Nokia as a leader in the digital economy.
Thought Leadership and Advocacy:
- Champion Nokia's AI vision in global forums, conferences, and publications, positioning the company as a leader in AI-driven telecommunications innovation.
- Develop and share thought leadership on AI and its intersections with network and cloud technologies, cognitive platforms, and sustainability.
Position Requirements
Strategic Visionary:
- A self-starter with a deep understanding of AI and its interworking with networks, cognitive systems, and sustainability initiatives.
- Ability to define and align Nokia's AI strategy with transformative trends such as Industry 5.0, digital twins, and advanced edge-cloud orchestration.
Exceptional Communicator:
- Proven ability to craft and present clear, compelling strategic recommendations to senior leaders and external audiences.
- Skilled in producing impactful briefing materials and thought leadership content
Collaborative Leader:
- Experienced in working within cross-functional, geographically diverse teams to foster alignment and deliver strategic outcomes.
- Strong influencing skills to drive collaboration across functions like research, standardization, licensing, and regulatory affairs.
Insight-Driven Strategist:
- Ability to synthesize complex technological and market trends into actionable insights that guide Nokia's strategic direction.
You have:
- A doctorate or Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in technology strategy, planning, and innovation in a global context, with a focus on AI.
- Proven expertise in aligning AI strategies with adjacent technologies such as network automation, edge-cloud orchestration, and sustainability.
- Deep knowledge of Gen AI frameworks, algorithms, and applications, with a strong focus on their integration into telecommunications and related industries.
- Hands-on experience with AI technologies such as machine learning (ML), deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and generative AI models.
- Familiarity with AI applications in telecommunications, including AI-driven network optimization, predictive maintenance, and customer experience enhancement.
- Active presence in AI-focused forums, industry alliances, and research consortia, with a track record of influencing global AI standards and policies.
- Exceptional skills in presenting complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clear communication of strategy and vision.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a global, matrixed environment, fostering collaboration across research, licensing, regulatory, and business units.
It would be nice if you also had:
- An MBA or equivalent qualification in strategy, finance, or marketing.
- Certifications in AI, such as TensorFlow, AWS AI/ML, or Microsoft AI certifications, or advanced telecommunications certifications.
- Experience contributing to AI-specific standardization efforts in organizations such as ISO, IEEE, or ITU.
- Exposure to implementing AI in diverse industry verticals like healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, and smart cities, showcasing adaptability across domains.
- Experience contributing to international Telecommunications standardization bodies such as 3GPP, ETSI, or IEEE.
- Strong understanding of ethical AI practices, data privacy regulations, and AI governance frameworks.
- Experience in implementing AI solutions that align with regulatory requirements and corporate sustainability goals.
