Google Hardware Reliability Engineer, Platforms and Devices in New Taipei City, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in applying Design for Reliability techniques or quality engineering.

  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support

stakeholders relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields.

  • Experience working with contract manufacturing partners and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with failure analysis techniques for electrical, mechanical or optical components.

  • Experience in applying design for reliability techniques such as FTA and DFMEA. Experience with reliability modeling techniques such as Reliability Block Diagram, Weibull, ALT.

  • Experience with Python, MATLAB or other programming languages for data analysis and hardware tests.

  • Ability to summarize and communicate issues to executives.

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

  • Translate product management reliability goals into appropriate testable goals. Develop reliability performance metrics and management reviews to review progress against those metrics.

  • Utilize statistical data analysis, ALT testing and modeling, and risk assessment.

  • Drive reliability test planning, methodology, and execution for all aspects of the product. Work in Reliability test labs and collaborate with test engineers.

  • Drive the failure analysis process for all failures discovered during reliability testing. Drive the failure analysis process with internal and external cross-functional teams for all failures discovered during reliability testing.

  • Communicate in English fluently to support stakeholders relationship management in this region.
