Google welcomes people with disabilities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience in Finite Element Analysis.

  • 1 year of experience with numerical methods/modeling, FEA tools (e.g. Abaqus) software, and experience with material testing, tensile testing, and strain-gauge instrumentation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the development and integration of electro-mechanical components (e.g., display assemblies, batteries, antennas).

  • Experience in material testing, tensile testing, and strain-gauge instrumentation.

  • Ability to communicate well with cross-functional team members and other technical disciplines.

The Pixel Watch team is helping people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration, and guidance to reach their health and fitness goals. As a member of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team, you'll use your expertise to create Finite Element Models to predict structural behavior and ensure Pixel Watch designs meet product requirements. This approach will identify design issues early in the life-cycle and enable the team to resolve issues that arise during production and reliability testing.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.

  • Build structural simulation models using Abaqus or similar tool to perform explicit (drop) and implicit (quasistatic) simulations for Pixel Watch systems and subsystems in order to provide technical analysis, design guidance, and failure risk identification during early and detailed product design phases.

  • Partner closely with Reliability, Material Science Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to drive failure analysis, simulation process improvement, and improve analysis accuracy.

  • Document results of analyses with reports and present to product teams, cross-functional teams, and upper management.

  • Help drive failure analysis, root cause work, and design of experiments. Respond rapidly in a fast-paced environment to technical issues, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

  • Support material and component level characterization testing and model validation/correlation efforts.
