Business Overview:
The Herald, Inc. is one of the largest sheet-fed printers in the state of Ohio. We also have a large digital press department and were a leader in the early development of digital printing in Ohio. The Herald Inc. is one of the oldest continuously operating printers in the Midwest. Our humble beginnings date back to February 1881 as a small weekly newspaper, which we still print 50 weeks out of the year. The Herald operates a full-service print facility totaling over 70,000 sq. ft that incorporates Printing (digital and offset), Prepress, Graphic Design, Bindery, Mailing, and Fulfillment.
Duties: * Prepares printed materials to be bound by studying work orders; calculating requirements; obtaining supplies. * Prepares bindery equipment by studying job specifications; inspecting equipment; setting controls on collators, binders, cutters, folders, stitchers, perforators, scorers, trimmers, slitters, and feeders; completing test runs. * Achieves production and quality standards by observing equipment operations; detecting malfunctions and deviations; adjusting controls. * Ensures operation of bindery equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories. * Maintains quality results by adhering to standards. * Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. *Previous Bindery experience is a plus but not required.
