General Description
CUNY’s Office of the University Dean for Education, within CUNY's Central Office of Academic Affairs, is looking for a part-time Project Specialist to support strategic initiatives with NYC Public Schools and other partners related to programs that support teachers and teacher candidates.
They will be responsible for supporting CUNY’s work with NYC Public Schools regarding increasing the number of Bilingual Special Education teachers. This initiative entails recruitment and enrollment of current NYC public school teachers into specific certification programs at CUNY colleges. The Project Specialist will collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders within the NYC Public Schools system, supporting all grant activities, and collecting and managing data.
Other Duties
The Project Specialist may also assist the Director of Strategic Initiatives in supporting strategic projects and operations , especially in high-need certification areas . The focus of all work requires being highly responsive to the needs of internal and external partners , including, but not limited to: managing and u pdating online systems, managing com munications with a range of public school and university stakeholders , designing and managing application processes, tracking and analyzing data, recruiting candidates for strategic initiatives, developing and hosting webinars, engaging in cultivation calls and emails, marketing, and candidate selection and enrollment .
Travel around New York City to schools and colleges may be required.
Qualifications
The Strategic Project Specialist will communicate regularly with teachers, school leaders, NYC Public Schools and CUNY faculty and staff. Accordingly, the Project Specialist must be a clear communicator, demonstrating excellent speaking, writing, and editing skills. Additionally, they must have strong interpersonal and strategic thinking and planning skills and a d emonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and prioritize workload. The Specialist must d emonstrate excellent project management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required . Project and data m anagement experience is required , and knowledge of the CUNY university system , and /or e xperience working in P-12 settings is preferred .
