JOB DESCRIPTION:
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Printing Section provides print materials upon request by the NYPD. They are a full service in-plant print facility comparable to any commercial printer in the private sector. There are three (3) methods of printing offered, ink jet, digital and offset.
In the field of graphic arts, the selected candidate will exercise independent initiative, technical skill and judgment for designing, directing and administering a great variety of complex assignments and supervising personnel in related work. Use of a variety of print reproduction methods such as software applications used in the field for the creation of informative print materials for use in displays or exhibits.
HOURS/ SHIFT:
Monday-Friday; 8:00-4:00 PM

Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent and two years of training in an approved technical school in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout and other art media and seven years full-time paid experience as a commercial artist, four years of which must have been in supervision and planning of art work done by a staff; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1". However, all candidates must have the four years of supervisory experience as described above
