FSI Reinsurance Senior Consultant

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reinsurance Accounting/Controllership Consultant. This role will be responsible for providing expert advice and analysis on all aspects of our reinsurance program (Life/Annuity and/or P&C/Specialty), with a particular focus on accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

As a Senior Consultant you will have opportunities to:

  • Analyze and interpret reinsurance treaties, including coverage, terms, conditions, and limitations.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate reinsurance accounting records in accordance with GAAP and IFRS standards.

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of reinsurance premiums, claims, recoveries, and other related transactions.

  • Perform reconciliations of reinsurance balances with cedants and reinsurers.

  • Participate in the preparation of reinsurance loss reserves and estimates.

  • Prepare and analyze various reinsurance reports, including bordereaux, cession reports, accounting schedules, and exposure reports.

  • Document existing and envision improve procedures

  • Elicit business requirements for reinsurance administrative system implementations/enhancements.

  • Work collaboratively with client stakeholders, including underwriters, claims, actuaries, finance/accounting/controllership and external auditors.

  • Stay abreast of current developments in reinsurance accounting and regulatory changes.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, Actuarial or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in reinsurance accounting and controllership.

  • Proven experience in applying GAAP, STAT and IFRS standards to reinsurance transactions.

  • Must have experience working with an ERP platform and related Reinsurance Administration platforms.

  • Strong understanding of reinsurance treaties, structures, and products.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with reinsurance accounting/administration software a plus.

  • CPA or relevant professional accounting designation a plus.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or any time in the future

    For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Jersey City, New York City Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Jersey City, New York City, and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $ 88,563 to $170,912.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
