Amazon AGS Technical Program Manager, Global Business Operations in New York, New York

The AWS Global Sales Operations team is obsessed with delivering results for customers and colleagues alike as we shape, build and support the businesses’ operating mechanisms and cadences. A diverse, innovative team, we love translating data, insights, and anecdotes into action and are seeking a passionate, results-oriented, and inventive Technical Program Manager to deliver the tools, mechanisms and data necessary to evaluate the business.

In this role you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end, with a focus on leveraging technology to improve the efficiency, accuracy and value delivered through our pipeline, forecasting, top deal, and weekly and monthly review mechanisms.

Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have excellent stakeholder management skills, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected.

Key job responsibilities

• Solid understanding of business management and financial processes including forecasting, pipeline management and deal reviews is essential.

• Gather and synthesize requirements from Executive Leadership, Worldwide and Geo-based teams. Write clear and detailed workflows, prioritize feature and functionality improvement requests, drive analysis directed at improving the efficiency and efficacy of inspection initiatives/mechanisms, execute to drive program success, and support achievement of AWS’ goals at scale.

• Manage the entire lifecycle of initiatives that fall within responsibility. This includes operational ownership of mechanisms, ideating to improve process efficiency and ROI, creating solid feedback mechanisms and producing roadmaps with clear milestones and steps to accomplish them.

• Influence stakeholders with different priorities and different functions, including but not limited to, technology, sales, business dev, legal and finance

• Proactively drive transformation, change and digital adoption to maximize the performance and deliver on agreed Revenue Targets and KPIs.

• Build strong global processes that are meant to scale, yet flexible enough to address the unique needs of specific geographies and segments. Implement the required governance mechanism via KPI and metrics, along with ad hoc reporting and analytical deep-dives.

• Own communication of program updates and launches to a wide swath of stakeholders and leaders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
