Principal Financial Group Analyst, Private Infrastructure Debt in New York, New York

What You'll Do

We are excited to announce we are hiring an Analyst to join our growing Private Infrastructure Debt team!

In this role, you’ll be responsible to support, evaluate, structure and monitor infrastructure teams’ transaction activity across sectors including transportation, digital infrastructure, social infrastructure, power and energy, energy transition and utilities, among others. As an Analyst you will conduct and support core credit analysis, develop financial models, and provide research insights to support senior team members in making informed investment decisions and be a key member of the team.

  • Establish market facing relationships with Sponsors, agents and advisors.

  • Evaluate infrastructure transactions, both investment and non-investment grade and including traditional private placements, bank loans and special assets, and monitoring existing investments. Develop historical and projected financial models, analyze key financial metrics, legal analysis and conduct industry research to support investments. Develop and establish market relationships.

  • Independently conduct fundamental sector research. Analyze and explain economic, regulatory, tax and accounting, competitive, sector and political drivers that impact a borrower's ability to repay its debt. Assist in maintaining credit rating, outlook and relative value assessments of investments.

  • Support inquires from marketing, RFP, product, distribution and clients.

  • Develop knowledge of financial markets, current events, laws and regulations, tax and accounting trends and implications, business operating trends and capital market conditions and analyze their impact on private placement structures. Monitor industry and competitive environment through research of market intelligence and insights to proactively identify new opportunities, trends, emerging issues or threats.

  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (ie, finance, accounting, economics, statistics, engineering, data science, business analytics) and 1+ years of experience

  • Must be able to understand basic accounting principles and economic theory, interpret financial statements, and efficiently and effectively research, compile and analyze information

  • Excellent abilities in the areas of communication (verbal and written), time management, analytics and use of Excel required

  • Must be collaborative, able to build and maintain strong relationships, manage expectations, attend to details, multi-task and prioritize effectively

  • Keen sense of curiosity and open-minded thought process desired

  • This position may be subject to SEC restrictions on personal political contributions

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Previous roles in fixed income, investments or related technical field

  • Knowledge of financial markets and fixed income strategies, including general knowledge of credit analysis methodology

  • Undergraduate GPA minimum 3.5 and progress towards CFA

  • Previous experience with Bloomberg

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$100100 - $140000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

We’re open to considering talent in the New Jersey/ New York area. This role offers the ability to work hybrid/in-office and some remote. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
