Description

TheAssistant Director (AD) of Mental Health Servicesis responsible for supporting the Senior Directors in the day-to-day administrative, supervisory, and clinical management of the Ryan White-funded Mental Health Program and the Short-term Counseling Program. The AD specifically ensures that grant-funded requirements and deliverables for mental health services are met and completes timely reporting on programs, and direct supervision of staff. The position works to monitor and advise staff about their productivity and skills development, as well as monitor and advise the Senior Directors around the achievement of programmatic goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job:

  • Maintains primary responsibility over the grant-funded mental health services programs (MHV/SCG) . The AD will monitor and ensure the following: deliverables are met, the program maintains audit readiness, contract requirements are met, and services are provided in accordance with the funder’s payability guide and rules; provides monthly reports and attends provider meetings.

  • Supports the Senior Directors in developing treatment modalities consistent with OMH regulations to ensure evidence-based, culturally competent, trauma-informed mental health treatment of highest possible quality. Oversee admission and discharge process, treatment planning, and case conferences for all clients.

  • Monitors and reports to the Managing Directors on a regular basis about staff productivity levels and identifies areas in need of focus and attention with recommendations on needed interventions.

  • Regularly monitors reports and collaboratively develops monitoring tools when necessary as they relate to projected deliverables and staff performance improvement.

  • Supports the Managing Directors in overseeing incident reporting, ensuring incidents are appropriately reported via the Justice Center, NIMRS, and when necessary, root cause analysis is conducted, and remedies are implemented.

  • Clinically and administratively supervise Mental Health Counselors and client navigator. Complete Data-Driven Supervision with all supervisees.

  • Coordinate Graduate Student Internship Program, collaborate with social work and mental health counseling graduate schools, ensure mental health programs adhere to all graduate program requirements and regulations, interview and onboard intern candidates, provide training and clinical and administrative supervision of mental health program interns.

  • Maintain approximately 0.5 FTE clinical caseload.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are to be performed as assigned by the supervisor:

  • Take lead in Continuous Quality Improvement projects that emerge from Triad meetings.

  • In collaboration with the Senior Director determine program needs, priorities, and directions based on sound planning and analysis of current client population and greater community need.

  • Supports the Senior Director in monitoring counseling and psycho-educational initiatives that create an accessible and available client engagement and support system. Ensure that referrals to and from agencies (linkage to, and retention in care), and collaborative efforts with other providers are maintained, thorough, and complete.

  • Assists in the data-driven supervision and skills building of program staff.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

  • Advanced clinical degree with professional New York State license required (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, Licensed Psychologist).

  • SIFI Certification, or SIFI eligible, required.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

In addition to the above-listed job responsibilities and educational requirements, the ideal candidate for this position possesses most or all of the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to treating those who experience serious mental health issues with co-occurring disorders.

  • Trained to handle issues such as domestic violence, trauma, psychoses and interactions among co-occurring disorders, and substance using populations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with HIV/AIDS, POC, and LGBTQ-identified adults and community needs. Familiarity and ease with harm reduction and recovery-based models of care.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills. This individual must be able to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • English/Spanish fluency a plus.

Salary Description

$70,000 per year
