Position Summary
Under general direction, assist the Manager of Accounting Operations in the day to day operation and administration of the General Accounting section.
Job Responsibilities
Provide back-up responsibilities to other G/A staff members as needed.
Assist Controller, Associate Controller by providing financial data, corrections and information including direct correspondence regarding specific General Ledger accounts and other General Accounting related issues.
Reconcile a variety of General Ledger accounts monthly to ensure that items are proper recorded. Act as liaison to departments regarding the proper use of General Ledger accounts, fund balance questions, JV error messages, and other master data inquiries
Maintain a monthly Journal Voucher (JV) log that is directed to the general-accounting listserv, to ensure that all JVs are processed by either GA, Grants and Contracts, Inter-company, or PO Finance, in the absence of e-Forms monitoring for JVs.
Responsible for reconciling the monthly Finance - Development Gift Variance Report. Acts as liaison between Finance and Development to resolve variance issues, record gift variances per development's instructions.
Process new Petty Cash request by departments, and maintain a log capturing all request within a given time period. This process is necessary for audit purposes, and to easily identify the custodian's contact information, date, and petty cash amount.
Responsible for the maintenance of all PayPal transactions by monitoring/requesting payment reimbursements, and ensure that we have access to all secondary PayPal accounts. In addition, acts as liaison between PayPal Business Solutions and the departments.
Responsible for the proper recording and maintenance of all gift revenues, extract General Ledger Trail Balance for gift reporting purposes from ECC in SAP. Downloads CU's KFS reports to reconcile with the medical college's gift receipts.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience
At least 10 years accounting of finance experience. Operational knowledge of Computerized accounting systems and diverse SAP experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work across functional lines to resolve issues and problems.
Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge in use of Excel, Word and Access database.
Requires maturity and experience to interface with all levels of management and ITS ACG group.
