Distinguished Programs Assistant Vice President - Claims, Fine Art and Collectibles in NEW YORK, New York

You will be an Assistant Vice President – Claims to adjust the claims settlement for our Fine Art and Collectibles Program. This is an opportunity to chart the destiny of the business, get in on the ground floor and significantly contribute to the strategic direction of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere and continue to develop claims best practices, standards, processes, systems, and internal infrastructure, in conjunction with our carrier partners.

  • Establish key relationships within the market and nurture existing relationships within your network of conservators, appraisers, private collectors, museums, dealers, and artists to support the success of the program.

  • Perform appropriate and proactive claims handling activities in all phases of the claim, including coverage, investigation, case management, reserving, evaluation, negotiation, and file documentation.

  • Ensure thorough coverage evaluations, and detailed analysis that are well documented.

  • Provide outstanding customer service and work with brokers and TPA/Vendors (when applicable) in the adjustment of claims.

  • Maintain current oversight diaries on files as necessary to monitor development, provide direction and identify trends.

  • Confer with Distinguished leadership on individual exposures, and gather competitor information, market intelligence, and understand trends within the industry and legal environment.

  • Participate in regular and meaningful discussions with internal and external business partners.

  • Be a resource to underwriting in analyzing and providing input on policy language.

  • Effectively and meaningfully participate in marketing activities and be the “face of claims” to our brokers, policyholders, carriers and reinsurers.

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Insurance claims adjuster licenses, where required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education (J.D. would be a plus).

  • Minimum of 5+ years of property claims handling experience. Inland Marine highly preferred.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills including presentations and negotiating.

  • Track record of building and nurturing business relationships and must have a network of industry contacts.

  • Client/Customer service focused.

  • Extensive coverage/contract knowledge.

  • Analytical and investigative skills.

  • Competent in coverage application, litigation, and contractual relationships.

  • Property insurance knowledge; inland marine experience preferred.

  • Designations such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC, etc. are a plus.

  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities.

  • Fine art and collectibles experience would be optimal.

  • Remote -NYC area

    COMPENSATION AND PERKS

  • $120,000 - $175,000 base salary plus bonus.

  • Summer Fridays (Leave at 2:00PM all Fridays from Memorial Day to Labor Day).
