The Estee Lauder Companies Associate Counsel, Real Estate in New York, New York
Description
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and its subsidiaries lease or own over 200 office, supply chain and R&D facilities and about 1,500 retail store locations around the world. The Associate Counsel, Real Estate will assist in handling a variety of real estate transactions and legal matters related to these retail and corporate properties. The retail work is focused primarily in North America, whereas the corporate work is global. This individual will be an integral team member of the various real estate functions within the Estée Lauder Companies. They will provide legal and other advice and guidance regarding all aspects of real estate matters, including leases, amendments, construction, disputes and closing locations. They will supervise and/or handle matters internally and with outside counsel where the volume, complexity or jurisdiction requires it, with a strong focus on process and management of multiple priorities. • Provide legal advice to clients in connection with the preparation, negotiation and review of a wide variety of real estate documents required for the development, construction, and operation of retail and commercial properties (e.g., lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements, estoppel certificates)
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including leasing, finance, construction, design and operations teams
• Liaise with and manage outside law firms with respect to real estate matters, including disputes and litigation in a cost-effective manner
• Assist in resolving disputes related to real estate matters, including lease negotiations and property management issues
• Support all legal activities related to real estate matters involving Estee Lauder and its portfolio of brands and business units
• Maintain organized records of legal documents, correspondence, and contracts related to real estate transactions.
• Develop and maintain templates and standard forms for real estate transactions to streamline processes.
Qualifications
• JD from a top law school
• 5 years of real estate experience at AM Law 200 firm and/or Fortune 1000 company
• Ability to form strong relationships with business leaders to achieve objectives of the Real Estate functions
• Ability to execute in a complex matrixed environment
• Strong understanding of real estate transactions and leasing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,550 to $208,200. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
