Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Joint Clinical Trials Office (JCTO), with a dotted line report to the Associate Director of Clinical Research, Meyer Cancer Center, maintains comprehensive oversight and management of clinical research contracts assigned to the JCTO contract team. Responsible for clear decision making, streamlining negotiations, mitigating risk on behalf of the clinical research community, to facilitate timely initiation of clinical research projects and the growth of the clinical research enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily operations of the contracts team. Serves as key liaison with Clinical Research Leadership to prioritize high impact contracts.

  • Coordinates clinical research contracting strategy in collaboration with counsel for WCM and NYP, including the development of template agreements and preferred terms and conditions.

  • Seeks legal advice from counsel as needed, including regarding complex negotiations and modifications to established templates and preferred terms and conditions.

  • Fosters new contractual relationships with WCM affiliates and external partners. Negotiates and amends Master Agreements with sponsors on behalf of WCM/NYP.

  • Is delegated as institutional signatory for designated agreement types.

  • Tailors existing processes, as needed, to support the clinical research priorities of the Meyer Cancer Center, ensuring compliance with the 90-day study activation timeline.

  • Establishes standardized contract negotiation parameters that align with the targeted study activation timelines.

  • Develops and reports on performance metrics to inform process changes required to achieve strategic goals and evolving research needs.

  • Provides focused oversight for high priority, large or complex projects ensuring adherence to institutional guidelines and policies, as well as, sponsor requirements. Negotiates directly with external collaborators, as necessary.

  • Develops communication and education strategies to inform clinical research community about key principles and processes.

  • Selects key software/hardware technology improvements including databases, applications and systems to ensure modernization, integration and sustainability.

Education

  • Doctorate of Jurisprudence (JD)

Experience

Minimum of 7 years of experience in industry sponsored and other sponsored contract interpretation and negotiation.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare or other directly relevant work experience.

Management experience is required.
