Morgan Stanley Client Tax Associate in New York, New York

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Client Tax Associate in Wealth Management Operationsto perform numerous data reviews, tax forms, interacting with internal and external clients and vendors and ensure that all withholding and reporting obligations of the Firm are met.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Associate level position level position within Core Services, which is responsible for performing and managing product-agnostic and centralized operational services across several businesses and products.

What you’ll do in the role:

• Execute processes/functions and/or support process management and project efforts, leveraging knowledge of the systems, markets and instruments that influence the team

• Recognize risk in day-to-day processes to draw out the key issues and contribute to process improvements

• Build relationships within team and internal stakeholders, sharing knowledge to contribute to team output

• Participate in projects and initiatives, aiding in solution formulation with a focus on timely execution

Review and ensure participant data within Canadian Tax Reporting is accurate, i.e. T5008, T3, T5 etc. and that all reporting for corporate clients is issued accurately and timely Contribute to the annual tax production project plan to ensure that all relevant tasks are captured throughout the year Perform all required testing on tax forms that are issued from Shareworks to ensure accuracy through preliminary reviews Manage any special handling requirements for clients inclusive of tax form amendments for clients

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Ability to establish clear goals and priorities, and address non-standard issues within area of expertise with minimal guidance and supervision

• Subject matter expertise in business area supported, client requirements, and ability to ensure control is not compromised to comply with client requests

• At least 2 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Strong reconciliation and research skills; prior experience in accounting or reconciliation of books a plus Self-motivated and eager to learn;excellent time management skills during tight deadlines Proactively engage and collaborate with all co-workers to build positive rapport and contribute as an effective team member Analytical, accurate, and strong problem solving skills essential;ability to articulate issues both in verbal and written form to help aid swift resolution Comfortable with technology and technical concepts in a fast paced changing environment An ability to learn quickly, work independently, handle numerous assignments concurrently and consistently be a self-starter

Role is Hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.

Role is open to New York City or Jersey City location.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $60,000 and $90,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
