Position Summary
Under the joint direction of the Department Chair, Division Chief, and Nurse Manager, the Clinical Coordinator II - Registered Nurse will assist physicians with outpatient-related duties, including taking patients' histories, completing directed physical exams, and tailoring individualized and evidenced-based treatment plans. Perform other duties as assigned and provide coverage as needed. Integrates the principles of preventive medicine and patient education into all aspects of clinical care.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with ambulatory procedures and treatments.
- Review laboratory results and other clinical information pertinent to patient health, order appropriate tests and other ancillary services as needed, and develop patient care plans.
- Teach patients and their families about disease processes, diagnostic testing, self-catheterization, enema teaching, and post-operative care.
- Manage supply orders for patients.
- Complete patient history, school forms, and other clinical paperwork.
- Monitor and respond to Epic In Baskets, patient emails, and telephone calls.
- Phone-in prescriptions and manage prior authorizations for medications that are indicated.
- Administer medications and injections under the supervision of physicians or nurse practitioners.
- Managed medication and supply inventory processes for the division. Oversee and control ordering and inventory at par levels appropriate to meet anticipated demands.
- Maintain crash cart and comply with all JACHO regulations. Work with tracers when required.
- Support physicians and nurse practitioners with clinical trials and other research activities.
- Serve as a member of the clinical coverage team for all clinical practices.
- Function within standards of practice established by the Division of Nursing and American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice.
- Act within the policies and procedures of the University, hospital, division, and clinical departments.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
- A current license as a Registered Nurse in New York State is required.

- Must conform to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance, and safety guidelines.
