Position Summary
Under guidance and supervision, oversees and coordinates the daily activities within the clinical laboratory according to standard operating policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.
Ensures that facilities and equipment are in optimal and proper working condition. Coordinates preventative maintenance and repairs as needed. May perform minor repairs if qualified and as needed. May advise on upgrades for performance enhancements.
Ensures laboratory quality assurance goals and standards are met. Evaluates results of quality control trends and implements corrective action when needed.
Ensures that safe laboratory practices are followed, including the use and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
Writes/amends laboratory operating protocols and implements new technology and protocols as needed.
May perform microscopic imaging analyses.
Will be responsible for daily quality control protocols and implementation. Daily monitoring of instruments and equipment in the lab.
Will be responsible for daily tissue & cell culture activities and setups. Will be responsible for detailed preparation of patient laboratory records.
May need to assist in the orientation and training of new staff and provide working supervision to lower-level laboratory staff. Will need to use computer programs and electronic medical records.
Education
- High School Diploma
Experience
Approximately two years of related work experience within a clinical or research laboratory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work flexible hours and weekends. (Will need to start work at 6 AM)
A detailed oriented person with a team-oriented approach
