The Director, Employee Communications will serve as our internal communications lead for issues management. This individual will partner with our Global Safety & Security and Employee Success teams to surface and track potential issues or concerns, partner with other communicators and leaders across the business to support our response efforts, and manage the development and execution of internal communications plans to address issues. This individual will also support executive communications and presentation development for our SVP, Global Safety & Security.

We are looking for a strong leader, strategic problem solver, and forward-thinking writer and content creator who is all about working as part of an innovative and collaborative team committed to doing the best work of our lives, together. Success in this role will be grounded in the ability to listen, question, consult, and translate important and often sophisticated messages into clear, engaging communications, and lead in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.


  • Serve as the employee communications lead for the company’s cross-functional issues management team, and provide recommendations and counsel, in partnership with corporate communications, global safety & security, government affairs, legal, our Office of Equality, and leadership.

  • Track trending concerns and issues, and develop employee communications strategies and plans that help employees understand a situation, our response, and available resources and support. This includes crafting messaging, communications, presentations, talk tracks for town halls, FAQs, and other support materials.

  • Maintain processes and standard methodologies to facilitate fast and effective execution in critical moments.

  • Provide strategic input on messaging and positioning to ensure the narrative is engaging and aligned with our desired tone and values.

  • Develop content and presentations that support executive communications for our head of Global Safety & Security that meet our style guidelines, creative goals, and brand standards.

  • Create and review templates that enable our Global Operations Center to communicate with and support employees at scale.

  • Shape and execute a global internal communications strategy that raises awareness of the outstanding initiatives and support provided by our Global Safety & Security team.

  • Partner closely with our Corporate Communications team to ensure alignment with external strategy and messaging.

  • Build relationships with and drive alignment and execution across communications teams company-wide.

Experience/skills required:

  • 10+ years of experience in communications or a related subject area; and a track record of success developing and successfully implementing multi-channel communication strategies.

  • Experience with change management and executive communications preferred. Experience in technology or other fast-paced, matrixed environment a plus.

  • A forward-thinking communicator and strong content creator experienced in translating information into compelling messaging and narratives, often on tight deadlines.

  • High emotional intelligence and executive presence, with a proven ability to influence and build partnerships at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to quickly grasp information across a variety of subject areas and build clear communications with minimal mentorship

  • A high level of empathy for our global and diverse audience of 60,000+ employees and experience communicating to a global audience.

  • Calm and cool under pressure. Attention to detail and excellent time management skills are critical.

  • A creative, strategic problem solver who challenges the status quo and fosters unique approaches to executive and employee communications.

  • Google Slides and Keynote expertise. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, motion graphics, and/or video experience a plus.

  • Confidence and ability to lead, manage and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and ever-changing environment.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and exert influence without direct authority.
