Job Information

Publicis Groupe Director, Growth & Marketing in New York, New York

Company Description

Hi, we’re Heartbeat, the marketing agency for Healthcare Challenger Brands and the brave marketers behind them. We’re all about challenging the conventions of the healthcare industry and ultimately uncovering the edge that will help an ambitious brand defy the odds.

And you? And hopefully you’re our next Director for our agency’s Growth & Marketing team. We need your strategic brain, detail-obsessed project management skills, and general Swiss-army-knife talents to help us create new business proposals that bring to life the stories of our agency, our people, and our work. You’ll be part of a small but mighty band of multi-talented generalists, reporting into the SVP of Growth & Agency Marketing. You’ll join a crew that leads and executes all our agency’s new business efforts, manages our agency’s identity and marketing, and plays a supporting role in internal communications.

Read on to learn more about what qualities we’re looking for in a new team member and why you’re gonna dig working with us.

Job Description

How you’ll strengthen the team:

Our group is looking for someone who can organize cross-functional agency initiatives and guide them to help grow our agency. Here’s how you’ll make your mark:

  • Support larger new business efforts and lead smaller opportunities. This includes everything from project management (overseeing organizing efforts and details), strategic approach (ensuring we’re delivering at and above the clients’ expectations), and team management (scheduling and moderating key meetings, following up on tasks, etc.)

  • Strengthen our internal processes — help us uncover new ways to enhance and improve our ways of working

  • Quickly become a go-to expert on our agency story, offerings, and services

  • Proactively track our agency landscape by understanding our competitors and their offerings, helping us constantly look for ways to stand out and above

  • Oversee the creation of content to drive new business and agency marketing efforts — case studies, presentations, written descriptions, videos, etc.

  • Create strong, confident, and trusting relationships with senior leaders and discipline leads

  • Support and mentor junior team members

How you’ll grow with us:

Director is where you’ll start, but we’re always planning for where you’ll go. Through on-the-job learning and mentorship, you’ll be expected to hone skills that will help you grow and expand your impact. These newly-gained talents will include:

  • Thinking big-picture about our growth strategy, partnering with team members to gain buy-in and deliver against it

  • Flawlessly partnering with all levels at the agency and the wider Publicis network, as both a thought leader in your craft and a sponge to soak up new learnings to improve our work

  • Running workstreams from start to finish, thanks to deep understanding of the agency and your killer project management skills

  • Proactively exploring and suggesting new ideas for how we sell our services

Hell yes, I want to do all of that. But tell me more about Heartbeat…

Heartbeat is a healthcare marketing & creative agency, founded in 1998, headquartered in NYC, and powered by the sharpest thinkers and markers. In 2023, we were Ad Age’s #2 “Best Place to Work” out of all large agencies.

We care about three big things:

1. Challenging Convention

We work with marketers who have big mountains to climb, so the same ol’ playbooks won’t cut it. To help these brands find ways to break through, we must relentlessly deliver on our core values: ambition, insight, invention, courage, and positive impact.

2. Being the Best Place You’ll Ever Work

This isn’t about pool tables and Bagel Fridays — it’s about giving you the support to do and be your best. Examples include unlimited PTO, hybrid working, and self-care stipends. We foster a team culture that is about compassionate support and candid feedback.

3. Fostering a Diverse & Caring Community

We’re the most diverse agency in healthcare, by design. No matter your story, you’ll find representation and amplification — through our affinity groups, cultural celebrations, and unwavering support. We’re proud to say that you can be anything you want at Heartbeat (as long as it’s not an a**hole).

There’s a reason a third of Heartbeaters have been here for 4+ years (and up to 21 years!). We hope you’ll experience it for yourself.

Qualifications

What you’re bringing with you:

With at least 5 years of experience in agency-side marketing and advertising, these are the skills and qualities you offer:

  • A solid understanding for how brand campaigns are made — strategic thinking, creative campaign development, media plan development, and tactical execution

  • Experience supporting and/or participating in new business efforts, specifically RFIs, RFPs, and agency credential presentations

  • The ability to motivate and herd cats (aka our fellow agency team members). They’re lovely cats, but they have busy schedules and competing priorities and it’ll be your job to help set them up for optimal contribution and participation

  • Strong writing and info-distillation skills, whether you’re developing content yourself or synthesizing info to be able to direct others

  • A scrappy mentality — if you don’t have something or know something, then you’re compelled to find it or figure it out

  • A profuse sweating of all the details — you take pride in near-perfection

  • The internal drive to succeed and help our agency/teams succeed. You love to win

  • Healthcare-related experience is preferred. Alternatively, you must demonstrate an appetite to dive deep on the health and pharma industries
