System One Family Law Associate Attorney in New York, New York

We are seeking a bright, hard-working Family Law Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in NY Family Law. You will have great research, writing, and organizational skills to work closely with our matrimonial partners. Our client, a Prestigious Family and Matrimonial Law Practice in Manhattan, is a leader in the family law sections of international, national, state, and local bar associations. Their lawyers teach and lecture at continuing education programs for lawyers, judges, appraisers, and accountants on issues relating to matrimonial law including valuation, divorce litigation, custody issues, and numerous other topics of importance to the practice and to the clients.

Senior executives and leaders in finance, real estate, fashion, law, visual and performing arts, technology, media, science, academia and sports, in addition to members of many of America’s most prominent families, routinely call on this firm to help them understand and analyze their family law concerns and formulate reasonable and responsible resolutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, alimony, paternity, and domestic violence cases.

  • Attend meetings and conference calls with clients, prospective clients, and other attorneys.

  • Provide legal advice and counseling to clients on diverse family law issues, including prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, equitable distribution, property disposition, and child and spousal support.

  • Reviewing discovery and responding to Demands.

  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems

  • Participate in negotiations, mediations, and courtroom litigation, as necessary.

  • Prepare for depositions and court appearances.

  • Attend court appearances for conferences, oral arguments, hearings, and trials.

  • Prepare and file all required legal documents and ensure compliance with New York Family Law

  • Represent clients in legal proceedings including drafting pleadings/motions, arguing motions, requesting/responding to discovery, and conducting trials.

  • Manage assigned cases by planning case strategy, calendaring case management, executing and delegating tasks, as needed, and providing regular case updates to client and managing attorney.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications: You must:

  • Have a J.D. from an accredited law school and be an active member in good standing with the New York Bar

  • Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in Matrimonial and Family Law, with a focus on New York law.

  • Possess strong analytical, negotiation, and courtroom skills.

  • Have a commitment to ethical legal practice and possess a high degree of professionalism.

  • Provide a strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines. Must be result oriented.

  • Be highly organized and comfortable handling multiple cases and tasks with ease

  • Strong research and writing skills.

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Have a superior work ethic and a positive attitude.

  • Provide compassionate, ethical and empathetic legal care to clients during a very difficult time in their life.

  • Be a flexible, collaborative team player, with a willingness to take on a variety of diverse projects.

  • Have an aptitude for learning and be able to quickly understand new concepts and ideas.

  • Work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
