The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Division of Clinical Genetics is recruiting for a full-time Genetic Counselor to work to see patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The Genetic Counselor will work with division physicians to respond to requests for inpatient consultations, coordinate lab orders and assist with patient histories. In addition, the Genetic Counselor will provide assistance to physicians during outpatient appointments and follow-up with patient testing results.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for patient appointments, including medical records review.
  • Assist with clinical consultations, draft consultation notes and write patient result letters.
  • Complete lab requisition forms. Coordinate patient and/or family genetic testing.
  • Coordinate specimen send outs and results notifications.
  • Attend weekly case conference meetings.
  • Participate in specialty clinics, when appropriate.
  • Enter patient information into division database.
  • Assist with orientation of Genetics fellows.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree required. Degree accepted in lieu of related experience.
  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Genetic Counseling.
  • Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines.
  • The ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues.
