About Global Financial Crimes In Global Financial Crimes (GFC), you will play a critical role in identifying potentially suspicious activity, protecting vulnerable individuals, and safeguarding the integrity of the financial system. GFC coordinates day-to-day implementation of the Firm's financial crime prevention efforts, including governance, oversight and execution of the Firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-Corruption and Government and Political Activities Compliance programs. Your Key Responsibilities: As an experienced U.S. Investigations Executive Director in GFC, you will:

  • Have oversight responsibility and supervise U.S. Investigations teams primarily located in New York and Baltimore that analyze and resolve case Investigations to identify activity that is potentially suspicious;
  • Review case output, including suspicious activity reports (SARs) prior to filing with FinCEN;
  • Partner with internal monitoring functions, including Trade Surveillance teams, on escalations to make SAR filing decisions on behalf of the Firm;
  • Respond to questions from the business and risk organizations across Wealth Management, Institutional Securities as well as Investment Management business lines regarding GFC processes, procedures and individual matters;
  • Represent U.S. Investigations team in presentations to business partners, Internal audit and regulators, as needed;
  • Analyze quality reporting and trends to ensure Firm quality review standards are met;
  • Proactively manage risks to the GFC program by recognizing significant risks in processes and technology, developing solutions and escalating significant issues timely to management; and
  • Work on other special projects as needed

Candidates must have:

  • 4 year college degree with strong academic credentials
  • 8 to 10 years of experience with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering Regulations within the financial services industry, or at a financial services regulator (e.g., Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Reserve Bank, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation)
  • Developed investigative skills (inquiry and analysis, organization and presentation of findings (both written and verbal)
  • Experience managing a staff of financial crimes investigation professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent judgment, initiative and adherence to deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with senior business, risk and legal and compliance stakeholders
  • Highly responsive team player who can think independently
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with the skills to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment
  • Certification as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist by ACAMS or equivalent AML certification/license – or certification within first 15 months of employment

*Skills Desired*

  • Strong understanding of the financial markets and banking, including broker-dealer product-based knowledge
  • Experience working with Law Enforcement, preferably at senior levels
  • Experience in change management and reorganization and/or integrating teams and processes
  • Experience in the self-directed financial services industry

Where You'll be Working This role will require in office attendance 4 days/week. Two of those days will be Anchor Days where you will be in the office with your teammates to learn, grow, and collaborate in person.

Expected base pay rates for the role in New York will be between $160,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
