Yeshiva University Lead Carpenter in New York, New York

Position Summary:

The Lead Carpenter performs and oversees various carpentry duties.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure work is accomplished in a professional manner and in compliance with work orders, specifications, and applicable building codes
  • Compute material requirements for specific jobs
  • Maintain adequate shop stock levels and requisition tools, equipment, materials, and supplies for accomplishing shop assignments
  • Assign duties to staff and provide routine guidance;
  • Perform duties of carpenter
  • Perform duties assigned as a member of the Fire Brigade
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Experience & Educational Background:

  • High School Diploma and 5 years of experience as a carpenter is required
  • A valid state driver's license is required

Skills & Competencies:

  • Must possess the strength and dexterity needed to perform the job and the physical ability to move equipment as necessary
  • Must adhere to operational safety rules and regulations as deemed by the University
  • Must be able to follow directives and possess good communication skills and ability to interact with building/office occupants effectively
  • Must be able to effectively provide direction to lower-level staff
  • Respirator Fit Testing may be required

Salary Range:

1199 Grade 9

1199 New Hire rate: $29.73 and 1199 One Year of Service rate: $30.33
