Commodities Business Control Manager Senior Associate - New York

As a North America Commodities Business Control Manager - Senior Associate within the Markets BCM team, you will be responsible for building, developing, and running the controls framework for the Markets businesses globally. You will work closely with functional teams to improve the control environment, identify and assess business risks, and promote best-in-class practices. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, participate in key initiatives, and have a direct impact on the future success of the group.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the assessment of the end to end control environment and in the resolution of any control issues that surface, including providing a framework for developing "best practice" standards

  • Seek to mitigate operating risk across functions by proactively identifying and resolving operational risk exposures

  • Facilitate the execution of control programs such as Risk & Control Self Assessments, Risk Event Reporting, Executive Governance meetings and control forums, etc working with the Business Control Officer and the associated line members.

  • Participate in projects sponsored by Business Control Officer. Includes operating as the project manager on key control initiatives within the BCM space as well as acting as a consultant on control initiatives managed within central control functions.

  • Responsible for the preparation and presentation of the monthly Control Dashboard and Business Control Committee , highlighting key areas of the global commodities control environment for senior management.

  • Partner with your Global colleagues to ensure consistency across Global Commodities control landscape

  • Engage on relevant control matters and initiatives pertaining to the Energy Business and Physical Commodities

  • Interact directly with NA Commodities Traders and multiple line functions, including: Legal and Compliance, Market Risk, Valuation Control, Product and Financial Control, Trade Support, Technology and Operations.

  • Demonstrate interest in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, participate in key initiatives, and become involved in a diverse set of issues that will have a direct impact on the future success of the group.

  • Work in partnership with your Global colleagues on all control-related items, including Commodity Governance Forums, oversight of Commodity Scorecards and metrics, liaising with Internal/External Auditors and Regulators, promoting Control training and ensuring its prioritization and completion, facilitating Risk Control Self Assessments and Risk and Control programs, and participating in the preparation and response to key regulatory inquiries and initiatives.

  • Provide oversight to Commodity projects in conjunction with your Global colleagues, including investigating issues within the project, liaising between involved groups such as The Trading Desk, Technology, Finance, Risk, and Operations, contributing to Commodity projects related to mergers/reorganizations, system migrations, new products, etc., and working with senior members of the involved teams to achieve objectives efficiently using influencing skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Commodities experience preferred

New York,NY $85,500.00 - $130,000.00 / year
