Google Privacy Engineer II, Search, Assistant, Gemini API in New York, New York

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience applying technologies and processes to mitigate risks (e.g., business, regulatory, etc.) using established frameworks such as Privacy By Design.

  • 1 year of experience driving decisions that maintain the privacy posture of an organization by analyzing and assessing proposed solutions (e.g., product features, infrastructure systems, etc.), and influencing stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience applying broad frameworks inside the business to strengthen privacy standards (e.g., industry standards, regulatory frameworks, internal operational frameworks, etc.).

  • Experience working as a team member with attorneys, software developers, security, and program-product managers.

  • Experience managing high priority requests to solve problems in a fast-paced, changing organization.

  • Familiarity with privacy impact assessments.

As a Privacy Engineer in Search, Assistant, and Gemini, you will provide input on critical changes to products used by billions of users across the world. You will have the opportunity to work on Generative AI products like Gemini and Search Generative Experiences, while helping to shape the privacy posture of other new and existing products, giving you the chance to brainstorm and implement privacy solutions that scale to some of Google’s most beloved products. You will incorporate privacy by design and help develop an early engagement model for product teams to ensure privacy is considered at every stage of the software development lifecycle.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $114,000-$168,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Guide Engineering teams during product development to ensure that their data collection and usage practices are transparent, protect user privacy, and mitigate risk. Play a critical role in Search, Assistant, and Gemini API product design process and launch cycle.

  • Conduct technical and policy reviews to identify and escalate potential privacy concerns.

  • Contribute to product/business strategy, public policy and legal initiatives to address and mitigate privacy risks.

  • Contribute to establishing a sustainable data governance and access control framework by establishing standards for data access and conducting reviews on complex cases.
