How you'll make an impact:

The Senior Microsoft Systems Engineer is our leading technical subject matter expert for Microsoft Server, Microsoft System Center, and VMWare, possessing extensive hands-on experience with system architectures. This role includes providing full-lifecycle support, operational security, configuration management, automation, monitoring, and capacity management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of architecting, managing, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows-based infrastructure at scale, with an emphasis on designing and maintaining platforms that ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and security.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure consistent platform/service availability for responsible systems hosted on-premise and in the cloud across all key technologies.

  • Lead the installation, maintenance, and security of enterprise server hardware and operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server, VMware, and Cloud Services Providers (AWS, Google, Azure).

  • Design and deploy advanced automation technologies and procedures to support on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure and applications, driving operational efficiencies by automating and improving existing repetitive and manual processes.

  • Ensure the maintenance of installed OS, application packages, and device firmware within the environment, incorporating all requisite security updates.

  • Identify, collect, monitor, analyze, and report upon system performance data to enhance platform performance, availability, and capacity management.

  • Provide expert consulting to internal customers (e.g., developers, project management, other technology providers) to assist with complex platform-related architecture, implementation, and operational support issues.

  • Lead and manage infrastructure projects related to installation and upgrades of the SiriusXM technology environment under general supervision.

  • Oversee data backups, and data replication tasks across various platforms to ensure data recoverability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery efforts.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, hardware, software, and processes to meet project responsibilities and ongoing operational support of the technology environment.

  • Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis within the team, ensuring continuity of operations within the environment with prompt responses.

  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM):

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and management of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) to ensure effective monitoring of infrastructure.

  • Develop and implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Create and maintain SCOM management packs for various applications and services, ensuring comprehensive monitoring coverage.

  • Analyze and respond to alerts generated by SCOM, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

  • Provide expertise in tuning and optimizing SCOM configurations to reduce false positives and ensure relevant alerting.

  • Generate and present regular reports on system performance, health, and capacity planning using SCOM's reporting tools.

Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM):

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and management of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to ensure efficient and effective software distribution, patch management, and system configuration.

  • Develop and implement SCCM strategies to automate the deployment of software, updates, and patches across the enterprise.

  • Create, manage, and execute packages and applications within SCCM, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and policies.

  • Monitor SCCM infrastructure health and performance, troubleshooting issues and optimizing configurations to ensure high availability.

  • Provide expertise in developing and maintaining SCCM task sequences, collections, and queries to support various deployment scenarios.

  • Generate and present regular reports on software deployment status, compliance, and inventory using SCCM's reporting tools.

What you'll need:

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science/IT related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience as a Windows Servers administrator or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Certification preferred.
  • ITIL Certification preferred
  • Significant technical background and hands-on experience with Windows Server OS design, administration, configuration, security, Active Directory and Domain Management, Group Policy Management, automation and packaging of Windows Server OS and platform applications.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills with a specialization in one or more modules (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PowerCLI (vSphere).
  • Eight or more years of experience with Windows Server Operating Systems and a strong background in Active Directory.
  • Server Hardware configuration and maintenance experience.
  • Software packaging, installation, maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes.
  • Development of test cases/procedures and training documentation.
  • Strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and SMTP knowledge.
  • Command line and strong automation skillset based upon infrastructure as code concepts.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $108,000 to $166,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
