In August 2020, American Express launched a new network in mainland China through our joint venture, Express Company (EC). Amex is the first foreign network to operate in China, and this represents a significant opportunity for us to compete in one of the largest and most advanced payments markets in the world. The Enterprise China Management (ECM) team partners across EC and Amex to build the China business and capitalize on this incredibly exciting opportunity for growth.
The position supports EC's marketing strategy and growing Amex's brand in the region with a focus on several key pillars: brand enablement, global experiences, outbound initiatives, and governance. The position's SOW will involve managing marketing review processes and escalations, identifying and executing opportunities to enhance the Amex brand in China.
The Sr. Manager role will be a key member of the team supporting successful marketing campaigns and growth in China, and partner closely with our joint-venture colleagues at EC and with internal partners across American Express.
Key Responsibilities include:
Serve as the primary point of contact for brand and marketing in China, leading key workstreams in partnership with EC and Amex
Develop and advise on localized marketing strategies that drive Amex brand value and awareness in China
Ensure all China marketing and branding adhere to global brand guidelines, and oversee creative reviews of EC/bank issuer campaigns in collaboration with Amex global brand team
Advocate for local exceptions and cultural nuances when necessary and appropriate
Supervise review process for social media accounts and influencer content
Leverage global resources to support EC product launches & go to market
Project manage annual brand research in partnership with EC and local research agency
Partner with Amex teams to enable access to global assets and experiences for card members in China
Socialize EC's brand and marketing activities to Amex stakeholders
Qualifications
5 years experience in Marketing
Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns
Superior relationship management and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and collaborate well with cross-functional partners and leadership
Ability to build relationships with external stakeholders
Thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires solving new and ambiguous questions with independence, rigor, and attention to detail
Ability to synthesize viewpoints from different backgrounds and recommend the optimal path forward
Strong executive presence, effective written and verbal communicator
Strategic mindset with desire to stay up to date on digital/marketing trends and China market developments
Positive "roll-up your sleeves" attitude; a proactive mindset with a strong-will-to-win
Experience working in, or with teams in China
Flexibility to work across multiple time zones, as needed
Ability to travel to mainland China if business need arises
Working proficiency in Mandarin (speaking and reading) required
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
