Cognizant Technology Solutions Senior UX Copywriter in New York, New York

Senior UX Copywriter

Who we are

Our CX Practice is seeking a Senior UX Writer to join our journey. We are looking for someone who helps us visualize the future of our digital experience business across Cognizant's platform services. This position - with the rest of the group - is focused on defining and executing compelling strategy + experience design. You will play a key role in shaping transformational visions and digital concepts that strategically accelerate our clients' business. Working across physical and digital practices, this role helps to concretize market-leading points of view around next-generation engagement. The ideal candidate is a technology optimist and writer who believes in exploring new languages and storytelling methods for an experience-led world.

Role Summary

The UX Writer is responsible for driving a cohesive product and content narrative across platforms and channels in the client's brand voice. As an individual contributor, you'll partner and lead collaborative efforts with product, design, engineering and marketing on how to improve copy at the core of our experiences including shopping, checkout, account and check-in, as well as for our informational and marketing digital experiences. You'll work on multiple concurrent activities as you bring the client's brand to life through the copy you write across web, mobile app (iOS and Android), kiosk, and other digital mediums.

Key Duties

-Write clear and concise SEO-friendly copy for digital content, optimizing content for search and accessibility.

-Work with designers and UX researchers to develop user flows and think in patterns to establish an overall organizational structure for a product's content.

-Collaborate with other UX writers to ensure consistency of deliverables while contributing to team process improvements, document copywriting standards, and editing procedures.

-Clearly articulate when it is best to use words, images, helper text, etc. across the different channels (web, mobile, kiosk) and craft the content - not just have an opinion on it.

-Transform high-level product or feature requirements into clear and engaging stories for our guests, addressing the intricacies of numerous edge cases while not getting mired down in them.

-Synthesize and incorporate stakeholder feedback and guest research data.

-Use a consistent, relevant, and on-brand tone, while continually refining and evolving our tone and how it's executed across platforms.

-Collaborate with legal, operations, and marketing to ensure what we say is always consistent with the client's brand and core values and meets regulatory and compliance requirements.

-Apply understanding of the psychology behind customer behavior to the creation of content.

-Review completed copy and contextual information in mockups prior to release.

-Use data and research to evaluate content's impact in the product experience, and push for measurable, continuous improvement.

-Understand audience segments and tailor copy appropriately to drive both engagement and conversion.

-Stay current with emerging e-commerce, social, design and content strategy trends.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

-A minimum of 4 years of post-education employment in UX writing, technical writing, marketing communications, or a related field. Experience in interactive design, visual or graphic design, information architecture, and delivery in digital mediums or related areas is a plus.

-A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree with a focus in UX writing, technical writing, user interface (UI) design, graphic design, interactive design, user experience, product design, human-computer interaction, journalism, marketing communications, or a related field; or an additional 2 years of direct experience in lieu of this degree.

-Strong portfolio demonstrating how you've simplified and enhanced experiences through the use of content (be prepared to provide at least 3 solid examples).

-Working knowledge of Figma and/or the latest design tools (i.e. Adobe CS, XD, Sketch, Abstract, etc.) with demonstrated ability to create shared understanding within cross-functional teams.

-Familiarity with content management systems and the concepts behind them.

-Working knowledge of lean, agile product delivery, MVP, optimization tests and workflow tracking tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, VersionOne, etc.

-Understanding of user centered design best practices as they relate to cross-browser compatibility, UI patterns across platforms, and designing inclusively for users of all abilities.

-Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability work iteratively toward short deadlines.

-Experience with copywriting for multi-tiered and multi-stage products on digital channels is highly preferred.

-At ease managing multiple parallel work tracks, setting stakeholder expectations, working individually and collaborating across teams.

-Excels as a deadline oriented conceptual and visual thinker, with a broad toolset for organization and communicating complex ideas.

-High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 18. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
