The Sr. Analytics Manager is an integral part of the Data and Analytics team, supporting Laurel Road's fast-growing lending and deposits product suite. This role supports the Product Team and will work as part of a cross-functional team on initiatives focused on developing detailed reporting and forecasts for deposit units, transactions, balance, and fee revenue growth. You will be responsible for performing detailed analyses to develop proactive and real time insights regarding industry performance and benchmarking, macroeconomic trends, as well as overall product performance.

Success factors include a combination of Business Knowledge (Product KPIs, Profitability), Technical Skills (SAS Coding, Data Visualization, Excel), and Communication Skills (Relationship Building, Data Translating, Presentation).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business Owner of Portfolio Insights: Use both quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide insights on product performance, along with industry and macroeconomic trends
  • Critical Thinking / Problem Solving: Develop an analytics framework to create reporting and establish KPIs to achieve business goals on growth and profitability
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the forecasting process for deposits, while establishing benchmarks and monitoring business progress towards these benchmarks
  • Cross Functional Partner: Collaborate with key stakeholders including Product, Marketing, and Operations to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives
  • Communication: Communicate strategic insights to senior leaders and other key stakeholders to drive decision-making.
  • Leadership: Emerging leader across team with potential to lead 1-2 analysts; Role model to others - may coach and develop; Provides direction/mentorship to junior staff; Ability to effectively work in a matrixed organization with colleagues across various reporting structures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required or equivalent experience
  • Degree in quantitative (MIS, Comp Science, Data Analytics) or related discipline preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in product, marketing, finance; experience evaluating complex business problems, data analysis and devising recommendations
  • Experience in Analytics, Consulting, Financial Services, Product, or Strategy preferred

  • Business Knowledge (Product and Profitability)
    • Required
      • Demonstrated knowledge of the Banking industry with specific focus on deposit products
      • Experience building out expansive product performance workbooks and establishing key KPIs and benchmarks to compare monthly performance against
      • Experience evaluating complex business problems, data analysis and devising recommendations
      • Experience analyzing product performance, evaluating predictive variables, and developing actionable insights that drive incremental profitability
      • Strong critical thinking combined with business intuition and intellectual curiosity
      • Results oriented, self-starter with ability to work independently on complex matters with minimal supervision

Project Management

  • Own and manage projects from front to end, actively engaging with the requestor and other business stakeholders
  • Communication - Independently communicate with key stakeholders, manage delivery expectations, and escalate when needed

  • People Leadership
    • Manage 1-2 analysts, setting strategy and guiding them to help achieve objectives
    • Work cross functionally with peers on the Data Analytics team providing support and guidance where needed
  • Technical Skills (Data Analytics Coding, Data Visualization, Excel)
    • Advanced experience in mining and analyzing large volumes of data and packaging the information to present to key stakeholders
    • Advanced experience with SAS, or other analytical coding languages (SQL / R / Python)
    • Advanced data visualization & presentation skills using Looker Studio/Tableau / Excel / PPT
    • Advanced Modeling Experience

  • Communication Skills (Relationship Building, Data Translating, Presentation)
    • Independently communicate with key stakeholders, manage delivery expectations, and escalate when needed
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated cross-team leadership
    • Ability to synthesize, create and communicate clear analytical studies in Google Looker Studio, Tableau, Excel, or Powerpoint
    • Advanced presentation development; comfortable presenting to all levels; easily adapts message to audience
    • Robust relationship-building skills working with junior staff to executive level management

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $110,000 to $143,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
