ERP Testing & Release Management Lead
Full-Time
Hybrid (based in New York City)
In office 3 days required
Job Summary:
The ERP Testing & Release Management Lead is responsible for organizing and controlling the testing process and leading the testing team for the Workday Program. This role will play a central role to creating an effective testing process that will ensure visibility, traceability, and control of testing process to deliver high-quality software and solution. The Lead understands how testing fits into the organizational structure and will collaborate closely across all the different business functions, vendors, and within teams.
The Team Lead will be a part of the overall development cycle that covers requirement, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The Lead will transition to release management and quality assurance for ongoing support. The focus will be to improve the quality, reliability, and performance of the system as changes are introduced. It involves quality and test advocacy, resource planning & management, and resolution of issues that impede the testing effort.
For release management, this position will own the Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for Workday across the enterprise. The Lead will provide tools and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases into production, implement and manage release processes for code through development, test, and production environments, and assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and integrity of the release can be measured. The Lead will have a commitment to quality and continuous improvement through research of best practices and works with management on optimization of processes/systems to drive improvement and quality.

Demonstrate understanding of business needs when supporting testing and release management activities
Manage up and provide reporting with Senior Management on both IT and Business sides
Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams
Communicate challenges that may impact time, resource, budget, and schedule
Supports the team to overcome obstacles
Strong in conflict management where necessary
Test Management
Define the scope of testing within the context of each release/delivery
Deploy and manage resources for testing
Apply the appropriate test measurements and metrics in the product and the Testing Team
Plan, deploy, and manage the testing effort for any given engagement
Provide guarantee for test sufficiency, test effectiveness, test efficiency, test progress, and product quality
Defect resolution & management
Release Management
Interface and communicate with Test & Development managers
Releases will include application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects and programs
Forward plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
Build IT release calendar in working closely with the IT managers from different portfolios and centralizing view of all releases
Manage risks and resolved issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
Responsible for Weekly Release Reporting
Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities
Work with IT teams to understand impacts
Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
Lead and coordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists
Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platform with a focus on Workday
Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
3-5 years of previous release and/or project management experience with a solid understanding of project management principles preferred
6-9 years of experience in information systems operations environment in system analysis or development
Workday experience preferred
Formal training in project management practices preferred (PMP certified)
Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
Foster effective collaboration between teams and across departments
Inspire enthusiasm and commitment to excellence within the team or workgroup
Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office with expert level knowledge of Excel and working knowledge of Access

Pay Range - Minimum
USD $140,000.00/Yr.
Pay Range - Maximum
USD $175,000.00/Yr.
