Our Transportation practice includes the following groups: Bridge and Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Resident Engineering and Inspection, Bridge Inspection, and Geotechnical Engineering. We specialize in analysis, design, evaluation, monitoring, and rehabilitation for a wide variety of transportation infrastructure projects and private clients. We offer a wide range of expertise to support client needs for both new and existing transportation infrastructure.

The Role

Thornton Tomasetti's Transportation practice is seeking a Resident Engineering Group Leader for immediate employment in the New York, NY office. This role will see the candidate leading all aspects of the group within the Transportation practice including strategic planning for growing the group, client development and management, leading pursuits and winning work, talent recruitment, development and mentoring, and overseeing the technical and financial performance of the group.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the Group's activities, establish priorities and assign staff to projects. Collaborate with other groups, offices, and practices on work-sharing needs and opportunities.
  • Drives the implementation of the firm's project delivery processes including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews, and other project performance methods to ensure quality work, on time, on schedule, and to the client's satisfaction.
  • Recruits, hires, develops, and retains department staff within the group, including supporting Project Managers with the development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.
  • Partners with other company leaders and pursuit managers to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for projects.
  • Supervise the project delivery for the group. Lead the development and execution of the group's project management plans. Supervise and mentor the team to meet overall project delivery objectives.
  • Supervise, provide Quality Assurance, or perform technical discipline tasks including research and MURK audits.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Master's degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • P.E. License in NY (Multi-State Preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Senior Leadership position leading Resident Engineering Programs and transportation projects within this market.
  • Proven ability to manage large transportation engineering projects and teams effectively.
  • Experience with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, PANYNJ, MTA (B&T, NYCT, MNR, LIRR), strong preference given to local experience.
  • Design-Build Experience.


Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$190,000-$250,000.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byNew YorkEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
