Job Description

Summary and Scope of Position:

Strategic financial business partner to EVP Head of US Studios (EVP HOS), PXP and Publicis Groupe U.S. Production leadership team leading all finance initiatives for PXP Studios with focus on growth and profitability improvement. Manages the P&L with accountability for all aspects of financial performance such as pricing strategy, fee negotiations, personnel cost, and overhead cost management. Main deliverables include client finance oversight, management reporting, monthly forecasting and annual planning, actual performance analysis, budget tracking, revenue growth and profitability improvement strategy. Partners with Commercial Finance Director on Studio pricing aspects of new business models. In addition, partners with BI teams supporting FP&A, month-end close, transaction processing and financial systems to ensure proper controls. Works with VP FD of Brand/Operations to ensure compliance with policies, identify areas for improvement and implement best practices across the organization. Reports to CFO, Publicis Groupe USA Production Services and supervises one Associate Finance Director - Studio.

Responsibilities:

P&L Management

  • In partnership with the EVP HOS, owns the delivery of full year Studio financial targets.

  • Acts as a strategic advisor to studio leadership team on all financial matters.

  • Leads monthly Studio P&L review meetings with EVP HOS and studio leadership team

  • Develops action plans to address shifting needs of the business and improve financial performance.

  • Presents U.S. Production Leadership with analysis of Studio P&L performance, identifies issues and implements solutions to drive profitable growth.

  • Supports hiring and freelance decisions and ensures alignment with annual plan.

Management Reporting

  • Leads management dashboard reviews with PXP leadership, develops standard and ad hoc analysis to support decision making.

  • Leads monthly management reporting reviews with US Production Leadership including action plans to align with targets.

  • Partners with FP&A to provide inputs for Publicis Groupe reporting including variance commentary.

  • Partners with other US Production entities on all finance initiatives and drives process consistency.

Forecast/Planning

  • In partnership with business unit leadership, develops an annual plan for PXP Studio in alignment with organizational strategy and targets.

  • Acts as a strategic advisor to the EVP HOS to ensure that committed growth and profitability is achieved and business decisions are informed by financial analysis and impact.

  • Partners with FP&A on monthly forecasting process to ensure the forecast reflects the most accurate projection of full year performance.

  • Leads short term forecast process ensuring revenue and key account cost projections are accurate.

  • Leads management reporting presentations and provides strategic inputs.

Client Finance

  • Oversees revenue growth discussions with studio leaders and collaborates on development of long-term growth plans supported by pricing and negotiation strategies.

  • Partners with Commercial Finance Director on new business pricing strategy for local and global delivery models.

  • Works in partnership with BI Client Reporting team to ensure actionable profitability analysis is delivered across client portfolio.

  • Reviews client profitability and ensures action plans are in place to address underperforming areas of the business.

Close Process

  • Monitors variances during month-end close process and drives resolution of open items to minimize the impact.

  • Presents preliminary results with U.S. Production Leadership.

  • Partners with FP&A on Flash and P&L reporting prepared for Publicis Groupe leadership.

  • Partners with BI leadership team on month-end close process improvements.

  • Partners with BI leadership and VP FD of Brand/Operations on audits and post-audit action plans

Transaction/Process oversight

  • Partners with operational leadership on identifying and closing process gaps to ensure PXP processes support fast paced production needs while complying with Publicis Groupe policies.

  • Partners with VP FD of Brand/Operations on process documentation, education, and compliance initiatives for PXP including training operational leaders.

  • Partners with Business Intelligence leadership team to ensure efficient transaction processing and implementation of effective controls across the organization in alignment with Publicis Groupe policies and procedures.

Staff Development

  • Responsible for supervising PXP finance professionals: planning of team priorities, mentoring, setting performance expectations/goals, providing feedback and appraising performance.

  • Close partnership with BI team leadership on fostering “one team” environment, ensuring clear communications and mentorship

  • Leading Finance acumen training and development initiatives for the broader PXP organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, master’s degree and CPA preferred

  • 15+ years of progressive experience

  • P&L management experience required

  • Management experience required

  • Commercial finance experience required

  • Production studio experience strongly preferred

  • Strong strategic leadership skills

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

Compensation Range: $143,000 - $240,500 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
