Mizuho Corporate Bank Procurement Strategic Sourcing Director in New York, United States

About the Team

Procurement works with the business to meet their supplier and purchasing needs through the full lifecycle of the relationship with the goal of maximizing commercial value, selecting suppliers aligned with Mizuho standards, ensuring service and product quality, and optimizing expense management. The function is part of the Corporate Strategy and Administration division and provides Sourcing, Purchasing and Contingent Workforce Management services supporting the Americas region.

This is a hybrid role, currently requiring 2 days per week in the NYC office. Summary

We are looking for a senior Strategic Sourcing Director to join our procurement team and lead the sourcing activities for critical categories of spend. The role will focus on working with leadership to develop and integrate those strategies into their organizations. The role holder will be responsible for developing and leading sourcing strategies that deliver value, innovation, and risk mitigation to our business. The role will also manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms & partner with Legal to negotiate contracts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in the sourcing ecosystem.Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee implementation of sourcing strategies for assigned categories, such as IT Hardware, IT Software, Professional Services and potentially other areas based on Mizuho priorities.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify and qualify potential suppliers.

  • Take the lead on executive level engagements to negotiate contracts and commercial terms with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Support key supplier relationships with the business, helping resolve issues and escalations as well as negotiating relationship-wide programs where applicable.

  • Lead development, in the future, of a formal program to manage supplier performance and relationships.

  • Incubate select sourcing strategies for assigned categories, aligned with business objectives and stakeholder requirements. Monitor and report on category spend, savings, and performance metrics.

  • Identify and implement cost savings, value creation, and process improvement opportunities.

  • Monitor and manage to critical sourcing and procurement metrics and KPIs.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive innovation, sustainability, and diversity in the supply chain.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • Strong knowledge of sourcing methodologies, tools, and best practices.

  • Excellent negotiation, executive level communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and make sound decisions.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and e-procurement platforms.

  • Technology Sourcing experience a plus

  • Certification in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management is a plus.

The expected base salary ranges from $180,000.00 - $200,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
