Job Overview:
The Cardiovascular Tech will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac, neuro, endovascular, electrophysiology, structural heart procedures, and circulatory support devices within their scope of practice. Cardiovascular Tech will help with the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, adherence to protocols for clinical research trials, support quality initiatives, and other duties that contribute to the daily functioning of the department.
Qualifications:
Required:
Successful completion of ultrasound or cardiovascular technology program with emphasis on echocardiography
Minimum of 15 echo-related CMEs required per three-year period as required by ICAEL standards
Previous experience to perform all modalities of cardiac non-invasive testing is preferred
Maintains RDCS/RCS certification requirements
Additional Certifications may be required
Additional experience/ training may be required based on departmental-specific needs.

Current BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider Certification
Current ACLS certification
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):
Department is open 7am-5pm
Rotating weekend schedule
Coverage for vacation, sick, and based on work volume
No on call requirement
Availability to work at least two days a week strongly preferred
Essential Functions:
Acts as a resource person for area of expertise.
Assists in the assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation of the physical needs of the patient including but not limited to: Comfort, proper alignment of body; turning of the patient; lifting or assisting the patient to move onto the stretcher, procedure table, or clinical unit bed with assistance from other staff members.
Assists with and take part in department education
Demonstrates the ability to independently perform electrophysiological evaluations during ICD procedures in the operating room and EP Lab.
Demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of a scrub technician for all procedures offered by the diagnostic catheterization, interventional electrophysiology, pacemaker, and ICD services.
Documents intra procedure information takes and records vital signs, alerts members of teams to changes.
Ensures that the department is stocked as needed with the necessary supplies utilized during cardiac catheterization.
Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and ICVL department.
Initiates and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques as described by the American Red Cross BLS standards as either a single rescuer or a team rescuer; performs same demonstrating appropriate technique in an organized, efficient, and calm manner.
Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedures, safety guidelines and infection and control principles.
