Job Overview:
Sickle Cell Coordinator position at Children s Hospital of New Jersey (CHNJ) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC). The Sickle Cell Coordinator will play a crucial role in adding to the quality care for children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and improving health care outcomes at the Valerie Fund Children s Center at CHNJ at NBIMC. Associated with numerous acute and chronic complications, management of SCD requires a comprehensive and coordinated care.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Associate degree (a plus)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic computer skills
Attention to detail
Preferred:
- Some experience in medical billing or insurance authorization (strongly preferred)
Scheduling Requirements:
Shift- Day
Monday-Friday
Full Time
Essential Functions:
Complete authorizations for Hematology-Sickle cell and referrals for services, including appointments, procedures and Medications.
Review patient's medical history and insurance coverage for approval
Contact referring physicians for additional information as needed
Monitor schedule for potential issues
Complete billing documentation
Assist with other clerical tasks as needed
