What You’ll Be Doing

Cadmus seeks an Analyst to join our Energy Services team who will focus on energy efficiency in the residential and commercial sectors. As a consultant to utility companies, the Analyst will apply engineering skills and real-work knowledge to evaluate energy efficiency programs. A primary responsibility of the job will be to support senior staff who design and conduct research studies to advise clients on a range of topics related to energy use and grid stability including demand response, energy efficiency, commercial and residential customer behaviors, renewable energy, and electrification. In addition to technical acumen, we seek a team-member who is a problem solver, works collaboratively with client-service driven colleagues, works well independently, and who has a passion for research.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze diverse datasets, including trend data, energy efficiency program records, utility billing information, survey data, and more, to quantify energy conservation and pinpoint factors influencing the outcomes of energy efficiency initiatives.

  • Document research findings in reports, memos, and presentations to clients.

  • Assist interdisciplinary teams providing technical input to their projects.

  • Participate in all phases of research efforts, from research design to reporting, ensuring consistency and quality of research methods.

  • Conduct quality control reviews of efficiency projects and analysis.

  • Work efficiently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams providing technical input and support to their projects.

  • Independently manage tasks.

  • Contribute to business development through proposals, client relationships, and other venues.

  • Assist with project management activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, data science or related quantitative science field with 2 to 4 years of professional work experience.

  • Understanding of how to apply statistical methods to large datasets to answer research questions.

  • Excellent writing, communication, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including setting priorities and adapting to changes in a time-sensitive, deliverable driven workplace.

  • Strong organizational, detail-oriented skills.

  • Initiative and ability to self-direct on assignments.

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.

  • Desire to learn, grow, and make a difference.

  • Interest in energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and/or electric vehicles.

  • Valid driver’s license (vehicle ownership not required).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.

  • Strong understanding of high-performance building design fundamentals, HVAC systems, water heating, and other common energy-using equipment.

  • Experience with building energy modeling software (e.g. BeOpt, eQuest, Snugg Pro, etc).

  • Familiarity with power and energy analysis techniques, such as regression models and bin analysis, cross-validation, and parameter tuning/optimization.

  • BPI or HERS Rater certification.

  • Understanding of energy/carbon policy developments, energy markets and wider energy/sustainability issues.

  • Experience installing energy metering equipment.

  • Familiarity with Python, Matlab, R, and/or SQL.

  • Familiarity with project management practices and tools, including developing schedules, assigning resources, and budget tracking.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-train including additional trainings and certifications.

Additional Information:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $60,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
