Job Summary:

Horizon BCBSNJ seeks a self-directed IT intern with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

• The IT intern will be asked to participate in projects from inception to production deployment
• Assist the Enterprise Applications team in the automation of job functions, creation of information management dashboards, and migration to the Cloud
• Analyze existing business functions and determine where automation opportunities exist
• Participate in team activities, including status meetings, design sessions, and code reviews
• Provide and share weekly status updates

Requirements:

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information System, or related field
• Experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, or related programming language
• Experience with the following would be beneficial: Jenkins (DevOPS oriented with Groovy, Pipelines, Shell script), knowledge towards GIT, Docker
• Familiarity with data store and infrastructure components
• Soft Skills include: Analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong verbal and written communications; Willing to learn and be self-motivated

• Hands on experience in executing and supporting IT systems, analyzing and troubleshooting system and data issues, and organizing and conducting meetings and working sessions
• Ability to learn and sharpen technical skills
• Insight into dealing with and solving real world IT challenges and problems
• Experience with making a business case and presenting solutions

Location: 3 Penn Plaza Newark NJ - Hybrid Work Schedule

Schedule: 8am-5pm (9 hour work day with lunch)

Duration: 11 week Summer Internship Program (June 2, 2025 - August 15, 2025)
